🪨 About Tenkachaya Tourou
This handcrafted granite lantern is inspired by the Tenkachaya teahouse in Osaka, which gained fame when Toyotomi Hideyoshi praised its tea in the 1590s. The lantern is made from Okazaki Usuishi granite and dyed brown to replicate the natural hue of Kyoto’s Kurama stone—a rare and highly prized material protected since the 1980s.
The lantern consists of four parts: the ball, the umbrella, the fire bowl, and the base. The fire bowl features a delicate lattice pattern created with openwork carving. This piece showcases the timeless beauty of traditional Japanese stonework.
