A Yukimi stone lantern is made of multiple stone parts. To reduce the risk of surface rubbing during transit, we shipped it as two parcels via DHL Express.

Packing steps
1) Surface protection (first layer with paper)
Photo: We start with a paper layer to protect the surface, so cushioning materials won’t rub directly on the stone. Note: we protect the rim/edge with a cardboard tube as a guard.
2) Keep the shape (wrap + tape to lock the bundle)
Photo: If the bundle loosens, movement starts inside the box. We prevent slipping and keep the shape tight.
3) Cushioning (bubble wrap around the entire piece)
Photo: We cover the entire surface with cushioning and add extra protection on corners, edges, and likely contact points.
4) Outer reinforcement (wrap with corrugated cardboard)
Photo: We add a corrugated cardboard wrap to protect the package with a “panel” layer and increase overall rigidity.
5) Place in the box: bottom cushioning + lock all gaps
Photo: We lay cushioning on the bottom to reduce settling and side shifts. After placing the part, we fill all gaps on every side to achieve “zero movement.” We apply the same standard to both boxes (two-parcel shipment).
(Important) Bottom reinforcement: bond the carton base with hot glue
Note: We don’t rely on tape alone. After taping, we bond the bottom flaps with hot glue to increase rigidity.
For heavy items, impacts from drops or re-handling can concentrate on the carton base. That’s why we reinforce the bottom with tape + hot glue bonding—to strengthen the “frame” of the carton and reduce the risk of bottom failure, flexing, and twisting.
6) Finish: seal, reinforce, and label
