About the Craftsmanship

Inagaki Stoneworks, founded in 1927, has been dedicated to the art of stonecraft for nearly a century. The founder, Seiichi Inagaki, left behind a legacy of exceptional stonework, from statues over 2 meters tall to significant restoration projects such as the stone wall repair of Matsumae Castle in Hokkaido. The second-generation founder, Hideo Inagaki, was awarded the Traditional Craft Industry Grand Prize.

The workshop’s history and techniques have been passed down without interruption, ensuring that every piece reflects both skill and tradition. Their works, including statues placed in Kenninji Temple (one of the Five Mountains of Kyoto), embody the enduring value of stone craftsmanship.
