It is carved from rough granite quarried in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. The lantern’s traditional design blends beautifully with Japanese or Western-style gardens, and a similar Misaki lantern can be found at the famous Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto.
The yellowish areas on the surface are natural iron rust or oxidation, adding to its unique character.
