Stone Gorinto – Komatsu Stone from Kanagawa
Thank you for visiting our store. This Stone Gorinto is carefully hand-carved by a Japanese stonemason with a history dating back to 1923. Unlike traditional Gorintos that are built from multiple parts, this piece is carved from a single block of Komatsu stone (andesite) sourced from Kanagawa Prefecture.
Single-stone Gorintos were common during the Muromachi period (15th century) through the early Edo period (17th century) and were mainly used as gravestones. This modern reproduction, created with traditional techniques, makes an exceptional accent for Japanese gardens or bonsai displays.
