About Kitagi Stone
Kitagi granite, known for its refined texture and durability, has been a preferred stone in Okazaki for centuries. Its fine grain and natural tones make it ideal for traditional stone pagodas and Japanese garden ornaments. The small black specks on the surface are natural biotite and iron content, unique to this stone.
Historical Background of Gorinto
Traditional Gorinto are typically made from multiple stone components, but a one-piece Gorinto is called an "Isshaku Gorinto." These single-stone pagodas were common from the Muromachi period (15th century) to the early Edo period (17th century) and were primarily used as grave markers. This modern piece follows the same timeless aesthetic.
