About This Dog Statue
Dogs have long been close to human life, and this statue expresses a loyal and calm impression through simple stone forms.
The straight front legs, slightly upward face, upright ears, and curled tail give the piece a gentle character. It is not heavily decorated; the appeal is in the posture, stone texture, and quiet presence.
About Ushiiwa Aoishi
Ushiiwa Aoishi is a Japanese granite quarried in the Ushiiwa area of Hakoyanagi-cho, Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It is known for its fine grain and calm gray to bluish-gray tone.
Geologically, it is related to Late Cretaceous granites in the Okazaki area and can be described as natural granite formed roughly 70 to 80 million years ago. Dark mineral specks, white-looking mineral areas, tone variations, and fine stone grain are natural features of the material.
About This Piece
