About Natsuyama Stone
Natsuyama Stone from Okazaki City is a granite formed about 65 to 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. It is a white granite with a relatively soft and tenacious texture, making it highly suitable for carving.
Known for its ability to absorb moisture and allow moss to grow easily, Natsuyama Stone blends naturally into gardens. It has long been used for stone lanterns, Buddhist statues, torii gates, and other traditional stoneworks.
