Provenance & Craft
Aji Stone is renowned among the world’s finest granites. Quarried exclusively in the towns of Aji and Mure (Takamatsu, Kagawa), it formed roughly 85–70 million years ago when deep magma cooled slowly into dense, even‑grained granite. Over geologic time, uplift and weathering produced the warm, reddish‑brown patina known as “Sabi‑ishi” (rusted stone). This natural coloration pairs beautifully with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi‑sabi—quiet elegance shaped by time.
Hand‑carved by Japanese stonemasons, this dragon carries that history in its surface. The sculpted body reveals crisp chiselwork; the base is left natural to honor the stone’s original texture. In gardens or entryways, the tones harmonize with changing seasons and lend a calm, grounded presence.

- Place on a stable, level surface (compacted gravel, paver, or slab).
- Align marks between parts; avoid point loads on edges.
