About Jizo
Jizo is the Buddhist Bodhisattva most familiar to the Japanese people. All over Japan, Jizo statues are enshrined not only in temples but also at road crossroads and mountain paths, protecting the safety of travelers and local communities.
This piece is rare these days, as it was created by a stonemason using the traditional hand-carving method, taking time and care to produce it.
Mini Jizo "Kiyo"
This statue took a stonemason a week to make. The black part of the stone is natural iron within the material.
