Budai (Hotei) is a legendary Buddhist monk believed to have lived in Mingzhou (present-day Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China) during the late Tang to Five Dynasties period. He is a popular figure in ink wash paintings, often depicted as a plump, cheerful monk carrying a large cloth sack. In Japan, Hotei is revered as one of the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin).

"Ushi-iwa Aoi-ishi" (Ushi-iwa Bluestone) is quarried in Hakoyanagi-cho, Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. Known for its fine grain and strong luster when polished, this high-grade stone is widely used for premium gravestones, monuments, and notable memorials. The name “Ushi-iwa” (Cow Rock) originates from a large rock resembling a cow that once stood in the area.
