Fukurokuju is one of the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin), also known as Fukurokujin. He personifies the three virtues highly valued in Taoism:
- Fuku (福) – Happiness, especially the blessing of having children
- Roku (禄) – Prosperity and wealth
- Ju (寿) – Longevity, representing a healthy and long life
He is sometimes considered the incarnation of a Song Dynasty Taoist sage named Tennansei (Tiannanxing) or the Southern Pole Star (Nankyokusei), and is often regarded as the same deity as Jurōjin under a different form.

This high-grade stone is widely used for premium gravestones and has even been selected for notable gravesites. The name “Ushi-iwa” (Cow Rock) originates from a large cow-shaped rock that once stood in the area.
