🪨 About the Stone
Okazaki Chume Stone is a high-quality granite quarried in Okazaki. This lantern is crafted using white granite, which has been skillfully dyed brown to resemble Kyoto's rare Kurama stone. Kurama stone has been protected and unavailable for quarrying since the 1980s, making this finish a valued reproduction of its warm, natural hue. The coloring is weather-resistant and will not fade even when exposed to rain.
🛠️ Traditional Craftsmanship
This lantern is handmade using traditional techniques. The stone is cut from rough granite and carefully shaped by hammering with chisels and masonry tools. It consists of two parts: the cap and the fire box base. It can be easily assembled by placing the parts together and adjusting them for balance.
