About This Lantern
This handmade Oribe Stone Lantern is carved from Japanese granite in Okazaki, Aichi, one of Japan’s traditional stoneworking areas. It is made in six parts: ball, roof, fire box, receiver, pillar, and base.
The shape is associated with Oribe lanterns, a style linked to Furuta Oribe, who is known in connection with the tea culture of early modern Japan. Today, this style is appreciated as a distinctive garden lantern with a strong Japanese character.
Its calm gray tone and balanced proportions make it suitable for Japanese gardens, entryways, stone paths, and quiet display spaces.
About Okazaki Nakame Stone
Okazaki Nakame Stone is a Japanese granite associated with Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It has a calm gray color and a natural mineral texture that suits traditional Japanese stonework.
This stone is associated with geologic formation roughly 80 to 95 million years ago. Natural dark areas or slight differences in tone may appear, and these are part of the natural character of the stone.
