Five-element pagoda (Gorinto). This piece is carved as a single, continuous form rather than assembled from multiple components.
About This Gorinto
Traditional Gorinto are often made as stacked elements. In contrast, this piece is hand-carved as one continuous form, from the base to the top, using carefully selected granite from Japan. The surface shows fine mineral speckling (biotite and iron), giving the stone a quiet, natural depth.
Historically, Gorinto were commonly seen from the 15th century through the early 17th century, often used as grave markers. Today, many collectors and Japanese-garden enthusiasts choose them as symbolic objects—simple, architectural, and deeply rooted in Japanese stone traditions.
Suggested Use
- As a spiritual accent in a Japanese garden
- A companion piece for bonsai or Zen-inspired decor
- A symbolic object for a meditation space
Notes
- Stone is natural. Mineral patterns and specking vary and are part of the stone’s authenticity.
- Handling: Granite is strong, but corners can chip if dropped. Please place it on a stable surface.
- Outdoor use: Suitable for outdoor settings. In freezing climates, avoid standing water around the base.
