Shipping a Misaki Stone Lantern from Toyota City to Australia by DHL
This Misaki Stone Lantern is assembled from four separate stone components. Because the complete lantern weighs more than 50 lb, each section was protected individually and the total weight was divided between two packages rather than concentrated in a single shipping box.
We first wrapped each stone component with bubble wrap according to its shape and secured the protective material with packing tape. Because the parts include rounded sections and a component with a large opening, the packing method was adjusted for each individual piece.
Where additional protection was needed, corrugated cardboard was added over the bubble wrap and secured with stretch wrap. Cardboard tubes were also used as spacers inside the boxes to help reduce movement and direct contact between the stone components and the outer packaging.

Packing a 53.38 lb Stone Lantern in Two Packages
This Misaki Stone Lantern consists of four stone components with a combined weight of 53.38 lb / 24.22 kg. Instead of concentrating the entire weight in one box, we divided the shipment between two separate packages.
Each component was individually protected with bubble wrap, with corrugated cardboard added where additional reinforcement was needed. Cardboard tubes were used around the opening of the light chamber and as spacers inside the boxes to provide protection suited to the shape and position of each component.
The bottom of each cardboard box was reinforced with hot glue to help prevent the box from opening under the weight of the stone components.
After sealing, the outer boxes were secured with stretch wrap. Yellow packing straps were also added to one of the packages for additional reinforcement. Fragile labels were attached before the two packages were shipped from Japan to Australia by DHL.
