Same-Day UPS Dispatch: Small Gorinto to the United States (US) — Packing Method (Japan)
Overview
This granite Gorinto shipped to the United States (US) by UPS with same-day dispatch. Stone is timeless, but shipping is not: when a heavy, solid object travels long distance, the packing must be engineered. Our goal is not “soft wrapping” — it is zero movement inside the package, shock absorption at corners and edges, and compression resistance so the parcel stays stable through sorting and delivery.
Shipping details
- Carrier: UPS
- Destination: United States (US)
- Dispatch: Same-day dispatch from Japan
- Key focus: Zero movement / protect corners and ridges / resist crushing forces
- Packing method: Surface protection → shock absorption → reinforcement → double-box → stabilization → documents & labeling
Packing materials used
| Kraft paper | Surface protection (prevents abrasion and fine scuffs) |
| Bubble wrap | Shock absorption (reduces point-load impact at corners and edges) |
| Corrugated cardboard pads | Structural reinforcement (adds rigidity and spreads compression load) |
| Inner carton | Primary protection (keeps the wrapped stone away from direct hits) |
| Cushioning / void fill | Eliminates movement (locks the item so it cannot shift under vibration) |
| Outer carton | Double-box method (improves puncture resistance and compression strength) |
| Packing tape | Sealing + seam reinforcement (prevents accidental opening) |
| Stretch wrap | Final stabilization (locks box shape, resists tearing, prevents seam spread) |
| Plastic straps (strapping) | Reinforces the parcel for international handling (keeps edges tight) |
| Document pouch + FRAGILE marking | Keeps documents clean and improves handling visibility |
Packing steps
1) Final target: zero movement + strong corners (overview)

Photo: Overview — our target is zero movement inside the parcel and strong protection at corners and edges.
The most important rule for shipping stone is simple: do not allow the item to move. Even small movement turns vibration into repeated impacts, and chips usually appear where force concentrates.
2) Surface protection (kraft paper)

Photo: Kraft paper prevents abrasion and keeps the granite surface clean during handling.
We start with kraft paper to protect the stone surface from fine scuffs. This is not impact protection yet — it is a clean base layer that keeps the granite looking perfect.
3) Shock absorption (bubble wrap)

Photo: Bubble wrap adds shock absorption, especially around corners and edges.
Bubble wrap reduces sharp, point-load impacts. For stone, corners and edges are the risk points — this layer helps disperse impact before it reaches the granite.
4) Structural reinforcement (corrugated pads)

Photo: Corrugated pads add rigidity, spread load, and protect corners from crushing forces.
Heavy items can “work loose” during transit and the outer wrap can collapse under pressure. Corrugated pads create a firmer structure so the package resists compression and stays stable.
5) Double-box method (inner box → outer box)

Photo: Double-boxing improves puncture resistance and increases compression strength.
We place the protected Gorinto into an inner carton with cushioning so there is no movement, then set that carton into a second outer carton. This “box within a box” structure lowers puncture risk and improves overall compression strength.
6) Sealing + stabilization (tape → stretch wrap → strapping)

Photo: After sealing, we stabilize the carton to prevent seam spread and keep the parcel rigid.
We reinforce seams with tape, then use stretch wrap to lock the carton shape into a single unit. Finally, plastic straps are applied to keep edges tight and resist tearing during international handling.
Why this packing method works
- Surface stays clean: Kraft paper prevents abrasion and fine scuffs.
- Impact is dispersed: Bubble wrap reduces point-load shocks at corners and edges.
- Structure resists crushing: Corrugated pads add rigidity and spread compression load.
- Movement is eliminated: Cushioning + double-boxing locks the item in place.
- Nothing loosens: Stretch wrap and strapping keep seams stable over long-distance transit.
Estimated delivery time
This shipment was dispatched the same day from Japan via UPS with tracking. Delivery speed depends on route and local conditions; delays may occur due to customs or weather.
Notes for opening the package
Stone is heavy for its size. Please open the package on the floor or on a stable table. Cut tape carefully and remove cushioning in layers. Keep packing materials until you confirm everything is perfect.
