UPS International Shipping: Yukimi Stone Lantern to the United States (US) — Packing Method (Japan)
Overview
We are glad that a customer in the United States (US) purchased our Yukimi Stone Lantern. For international shipping, our priority is simple: prevent contact between stone parts and keep everything fixed so nothing moves inside the box.
This Yukimi stone lantern has two main parts. To reduce the risk of friction damage during transit, we ship it as two separate parcels and pack each part with the same standards.
For stone lantern orders, we also include a Certificate of Origin. The certificate is placed in an envelope and protected with cardboard so it will not bend during shipping. In this photo log, Photo 5 and Photo 6 show the Certificate of Origin packaging.

Packing steps
1) Photo log (packing overview)

Photo: Packing overview. We prepare materials and pack the lantern as two separate parcels.
We prepare two cartons and pack each stone part separately. This is the first and most important step to prevent friction damage during transit.
2) Why two parcels: separate the two parts

Photo: The lantern parts are handled separately so they do not touch each other in transit.
Stone-to-stone contact is risky. Even minor vibration can cause rubbing. That is why we ship the Yukimi lantern in two individual parcels.
3) Layer 1: surface protection (Japanese Stone Industry Newspaper)

Photo: First layer with Japanese Stone Industry Newspaper to protect the stone surface.
The first material we use is newspaper (and air cushions). This initial layer helps protect the surface and fill small gaps during handling.
Note: The newspaper we use is our specialized Japanese Stone Industry Newspaper, which we read daily as part of our ongoing study and commitment to stone materials.
4) Layer 2: air cushions + cardboard stabilization (keep it fixed)

Photo: Air cushions and cardboard are added to stabilize the stone part inside the box.
We wrap the parts securely and use air cushions and sturdy cardboard to stabilize the contents. The goal is that the stone remains fixed and cannot move inside the carton.
5) Certificate of Origin: place it in an envelope (stone lantern only)

Photo: Certificate of Origin (stone lantern only) is placed in an envelope.
For stone lantern orders, we issue and include a Certificate of Origin. We place it in an envelope first to keep it clean and organized.
6) Certificate of Origin: cardboard anti-bend protection

Photo: The envelope is protected with cardboard so the certificate will not bend during shipping.
To prevent damage to the document, we protect the envelope with cardboard. This keeps the certificate flat and reduces the risk of bending in international handling.
7) Box protection: place each part into a strong corrugated carton

Photo: Each stone part is boxed separately in a strong corrugated carton for international transport.
Both parcels are placed in high-quality corrugated cardboard cartons designed for international shipping.
8) Seal and reinforce the cartons

Photo: Cartons are sealed and reinforced for pickup.
We seal and reinforce the cartons to prevent loosening or accidental opening during handling.
9) Photo record (process)

Photo: Mid-process record. The focus remains: keep the stone fixed and prevent contact.
10) Photo record (reinforcement)
