Tempaku Ward Shrine Visits (Overview)
I completed a shrine-walk series in Tempaku Ward, Nagoya, which borders Mizuho Ward, where my office and warehouse are located.
The period was about one month—from late 2025 to January 20, 2026—and I visited a total of 14 shrines.

Key points
Completed: All shrines I could confirm as being in Tempaku Ward on maps Total: 14 shrines Period: Late 2025 – 2026-01-20
I visited each shrine one by one, without skipping any, within the scope that could be confirmed on maps.
As a result, the number of shrines I confirmed in Tempaku Ward was 14.
*In this article, “completed” refers to shrines that could be confirmed as being located within Tempaku Ward on maps.
Nagoya is a city of about 2.3 million people, but Tempaku Ward is located a bit away from the city center.
Some shrines were not only in residential areas, but also in places surrounded by hills, forests, and woodland.
The slopes and remaining greenery give Tempaku a noticeably different atmosphere from “downtown Nagoya.”
The number of shrines I visited in Tempaku Ward was 14, which is not a large number compared with other wards in Nagoya.
However, that also made the differences between each site stand out—some shrines were quietly tucked into neighborhoods, while others felt protected by trees and forest air. In many ways, the locations reflect the ward’s terrain and character.
Below is a complete list of the Tempaku Ward series links. After the list, I also include one shrine I recommend if you travel to Tempaku Ward.

Which shrine should you visit in Tempaku Ward, Nagoya?
Ueda Hachimangu
It is not a large site, and it is not a tourist destination where crowds pour in.
Even so, the atmosphere changes the moment you step inside, and you can pray quietly in a calm, unhurried space.

The reason I recommend it is simple: it has a complete set of stone features commonly found at shrines.
You can see a stone torii, stone lanterns, komainu guardians, and a Chozubachi (water basin). In addition, there is a stone bridge, and even red torii that feel like they were placed to evoke a small “island” setting.
If you have time, I also recommend stopping by the nearby Jizo as well.
