A New Okazaki City Stone Workshop Has Joined Japanstones.shop
Share
Known as a city of stone craftsmanship, Okazaki City has long supported skilled stonemasons who build Japanese gardens and stone lantern designs with real architectural presence. We are proud to share that a new stonemasonry company from Okazaki City has joined our network of partner workshops. With this addition, Japanstones.shop now works with 14 stone manufacturers.
This new partnership also came through an introduction from one of our existing stone manufacturers. Selling Japanese stone lanterns and stone sculptures overseas requires real know-how—especially for packing, international shipping, customs, and risk control. Japanstones.shop has built that export and delivery expertise through hands-on experience. That is why referrals from trusted partner workshops are frequent, and our network keeps expanding with serious makers who value quality and reliability.
From Tokyo Landscaping Training to Okazaki Craftsmanship

The owner of this workshop trained in a landscaping company in Tokyo after graduating from school, learning on real job sites and building an eye for how stone is used in finished gardens. Even after becoming independent, the workshop continues to receive many landscaping requests from Tokyo.
The owner comes from a long-established stone family in Okazaki City. The workshop specializes in Japanese garden stonework and stone lantern making, and many relatives have also started independent stone businesses. This background matters, because it shows up in the work: balanced proportions, clean lines where precision is required, and surfaces that age beautifully outdoors—qualities you can also feel in signature lantern styles such as the Sunshoan Type Stone Lantern.
New Arrivals Built for Outdoor Presence

You can feel the range immediately from the showroom photos. The lineup includes pieces with strong scale, variety in texture, and designs made to look right in a real garden. A large, wide-roof style lantern can become the visual center of a space, while smaller pieces can be grouped to create a calm scene with intentional negative space. This balance of large and small is one of the strongest points of this new addition—and it is exactly why lantern models like the Yukimo Stone Lantern work so well as a focal point or as part of a carefully composed scene.

Why Stone Feels Different Depending on the Maker

Stone is not only about hardness. The atmosphere changes depending on how the surface is cut, how edges are shaped, and how shadow is designed into the form. In the photos, you can see accuracy in lattice details, the roof overhang, the openness of the fire box, and the stance of the legs. These are not accidental. They are designed so the silhouette still wins from a distance, while details reward you up close—an approach that also defines refined modern-classic pieces like the Misaki Stone Lantern.
A Showroom That Communicates a Real Stone World

The showroom itself tells a story. Finished pieces sit alongside stacked stone material on pallets, and you can see how different colors and textures can live together in one space. That atmosphere has value. It turns product viewing into “choosing a scene,” not just buying an object.
How to Choose the Right Piece

- Want a main focal point: choose a wide-roof lantern style or a taller vertical form that anchors the view.
- Want quiet balance: group two or three smaller pieces and pair them with low stones such as base stones or stepping stones.
- Want a modern match: look for cleaner lines and more geometric, frame-like forms that fit contemporary exterior design.
- Want story and symbolism: carved motif pieces add instant narrative and become a conversation starter.
Shipping Notes
Shipping is a key point for stone. The best method depends on the size and weight of each item. Smaller pieces can ship by international courier. Larger pieces may require pallet packing and ocean freight options. We will guide the best shipping approach on each product page.
More Additions Coming
