I went to Stone Festa Okazaki 2025. Saturday, November 1

The event took place at the Multipurpose Plaza of Okazaki Castle Park, as part of the larger “Okazaki Castle Town Ieyasu Autumn Festival.”

The stone walls of Okazaki Castle were originally constructed in the early Edo period by local stonemasons of Okazaki, whose craftsmanship laid the foundation for the region’s long stone-working tradition. In this sense, the very ground beneath the festival represents the birthplace of Okazaki’s stonemasons.

Against this historic backdrop, many stonemasons who collaborate with Japanstones.shop showcased their works at the event. I was fortunate to meet them in person and to be introduced—through existing partners—to many new artisans from the Okazaki area.
