Japanstones.shop ships Japanese stone products to customers around the world. For this shipment, we sent a Daruma Bodhidharma Granite Stone Sculpture from Japan to the United States using DHL international air service.
This piece consists of two separate stone components: a Daruma figure carved from granite and a flat stone base used to display the sculpture. The Daruma figure and its base were made from different types of stone in different years.
The Daruma figure was carved in 2020 from Natsuyama Stone, a Japanese granite. The display base is a piece of British York Stone made in 2007.

| Packing method | The Daruma figure and stone base were individually wrapped with protective mats and bubble wrap before being placed in one cardboard box. After sealing, the box was secured with stretch wrap and covered with DHL outer packaging. |
Shipping a Granite Daruma Sculpture to the United States by DHL
This Daruma Bodhidharma Granite Stone Sculpture is displayed by placing the rounded Daruma figure on its flat York Stone base.
Because the two stone components have different shapes and weights, we wrapped them separately before placing them in the same box. This prevented the stone surfaces from coming into direct contact during transportation.
Bubble wrap was placed around the Daruma figure and the base. Packing paper and rigid cylindrical cardboard inserts were added to the remaining spaces inside the box to reduce movement and contact during transportation.

Packing the Daruma Figure and Stone Base in One Package
The Daruma figure has a rounded form with carved facial features and ears. The base is a flat stone slab with a natural edge. We wrapped each component separately with a protective mat and bubble wrap based on its individual shape.
Packing paper and rigid cylindrical cardboard inserts were placed in the open spaces inside the box. Because two differently shaped stone components were packed together, the interior was arranged to prevent direct contact and limit movement inside the box.
The bottom of the cardboard box was reinforced with hot glue to help prevent it from opening under the weight of the stone components.
