A customer in Switzerland purchased a Yukimi Stone Lantern for Japanese garden use.
After confirming the order, the stone lantern was packed on the same day and shipped from Japan to Switzerland by DHL Express. This purchase included international shipping in the item price.
A Yukimi Stone Lantern is made of multiple stone parts, including the small top finial, the roof, the fire box section, the base, and the legs. Because stone products are heavy and have edges or raised details that can receive concentrated impact, international shipping requires more than simply wrapping the item.
For this shipment, the main priorities were to prevent stone parts from touching each other, secure each part so it would not move inside the box, and protect the edges, surfaces, and raised sections step by step.

Checking Each Stone Part Before Packing
A Yukimi Stone Lantern is made of several parts with different shapes, such as the small top finial, roof, fire box section, base, and legs.
Before packing, each stone part was checked carefully. I decided where thicker cushioning was needed and where cardboard reinforcement should be added, based on the shape and weight of each part.

Securing the Stone Parts Inside the Box
After each stone part was protected, the parts were placed inside the box.
The most important point is to prevent stone parts from touching each other. If stone parts make direct contact, vibration during transport can cause scratches, chips, or surface damage.
Cushioning material was placed on the bottom, sides, and open spaces inside the box so the contents would not move. During international shipping, a box may be placed sideways or stacked at an angle. For this reason, the packing must protect the contents not only from vertical movement but also from side movement.
Packing Materials Used
| Protective paper | Used as the first layer around the stone surface. It helps prevent cushioning material from rubbing directly against the stone. |
|---|---|
| Bubble wrap | Used as the main cushioning material for each stone part. |
| Cardboard sheet | Used to protect flat surfaces, edges, and raised sections while improving the rigidity of the package. |
| Cardboard tube | Used for internal protection and shape support where needed. |
| Stretch film | Used to hold cushioning and cardboard reinforcement in place. |
| Packing tape | Used to secure stone parts, reinforce packing layers, and seal the outer box. |
| Outer box | Selected to fit the protected stone parts while leaving enough space for cushioning around them. |
| Hot glue | Used to reinforce the bottom of the cardboard box. The bottom flaps were bonded to reduce the risk of sagging or bottom failure during transport of a heavy item. |
| FRAGILE label | Applied to show that the package requires careful handling during international transport. |
Why DHL Express Was Used
For overseas customers, being able to check where the package is during transit provides important peace of mind.
DHL Express offers clear tracking and is one of the practical international shipping options for deliveries from Japan to Europe.
Because stone products are valuable and heavy, shipping speed is not the only concern. Clear tracking, customs handling, and overall confidence during delivery are also important.
International Shipping Included for Easier Purchase
This Yukimi Stone Lantern was purchased by a customer in Switzerland with international shipping included in the item price.
When overseas customers buy stone products from Japan, the product itself is not their only concern.
Will it really arrive? How will it be packed? How much will shipping cost? Can it be tracked?
To reduce these concerns, I record the actual packing process and publish shipment examples with real photos.
A Japanese stone lantern is not just a garden decoration. It carries the texture of stone, the work of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quiet atmosphere of a Japanese garden.
For that reason, packing and shipping after the sale are also part of the value of the item.
This Yukimi Stone Lantern was carefully packed in Japan and shipped to Switzerland by DHL Express.
